Welcome ToThe Training Times - February - March 2006by Ted and John Burris |

Feb 23,2006
Well here we go, setting off on another season of Biking. What did we accomplish last year.
First the good: I covered more than 2500 miles on my bike last year from Aug. 2004 when we bought them to Aug. 2005 on their birthday. (John broke the 2000 Mark.) I went from 315 lbs in Aug 2004 to 259 lbs on October 25, 2005 a loss of 56 lbs. John lost over 20! We seasoned our legs. We rode all the way across Missouri (346 Miles) in a long weekend and I quit smoking.
Now the bad: Neither of us have put more than 100 miles on our bikes since Halloween 2005. I am now back up to 285 lbs. John gained 1. I started smoking again. That leaves me a long row to hoe for this year.
So, what do we intend to accomplish this year. 5000 Miles + from August 2005 to August 2006. I will quit smoking again (and soon) I plan to reduce to 250 lbs or less by Halloween and John and I will complete Bike across Kansas in June of this year. 500 Miles in 7 days and we plan to ride the MS150 again this year in September. Lofty Goals all considered but it is my intention to accomplish every one of them.
We formerly started riding again Feb. 21'st with a 10 mile road ride. WOW. I didn't think it would be so tough after only 3 months off. I have started a web blog on textamerica that I can send to from my cell phone. I will document many of the training rides and the BAK itself on this log and it updates with in minutes of the time I send the message from my Treo 650. You can monitor it at http://thetrainingtimes.textamerica.com. Info on the BAK ride is available at www.bak.org. and the data from the textamerica blog will make its way here some time after the rides are complete. In addition I am taking some web design classes so maybe we can spruce things up around here in the coming future.
Thanks for stopping in and comeback and see us for the weekly updates.
Ted and John Burris.
